Lasers and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) are high energy light beams that are absorbed uniquely by body tissues. Laser and IPL treatments produce impressive cosmetic improvements without surgical incisions. Micro Laser Peel™ Laser Skin Treatment
Laser skin treatment is offered by Snow Facial Plastics & Laser Aesthetics as an improved alternative to other skin resurfacing techniques such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Laser resurfacing removes the damaged surface layer of skin so that the epidermis can generate a new top layer. The refreshed new surface layer is tighter and free of the former sun damage, scarring, and fine lines.
Dr. Russell T. Snow performs laser skin procedures that focus on eliminating fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, and general sun damage from problem areas such as the skin around the eyes, mouth, cheeks and forehead.
When performing laser skin treatments in his Caldwell office, Russell T. Snow, D.O., often employs a technique called Micro Laser Peel™ that uses an erbium laser to treat the outermost layers of the skin. While erbium laser technology is capable of accomplishing a deep dermal resurfacing, the real advantage of the technology is the ability to adjust the equipment to a more shallow depth than traditional erbium peels. Micro Laser Peel™ can be performed with a topical anesthetic and recovery can be accomplished in as little as three to four days. Most skin areas can be treated such as the face, neck, chest and hands.
A deeper Laser Skin Peel is chosen for more dramatic reduction of deeper wrinkles and surface irregularities such as acne scars. Laser skin tightening is maximized and uniform, fresh, color and texture are achieved.
Profile™ Laser Skin Peel
For wrinkle reduction and restoring your skin to natural beauty, the Profile™ laser brings a new approach to skin peels. The Profile™ system's combination of two lasers sets a new standard for laser skin peels, allowing Dr. Snow to precisely vary the peel depth. Wrinkles, birthmarks, acne scars, solar lentigines (brown spots), actinic keratoses (sun damage), and unsightly scars can all be successfully treated.
Dr. Russell T. Snow will use his Profile™ laser system to remove thin layers of your skin surface, which will be replaced by younger skin growth. Your wrinkles will soften and become less noticeable; many will disappear. Pigmented lesions will clear or greatly improve. Your healing time will depend upon your actual treatment depth. It will take a few days to replace the outer layer of your skin. Most healing is complete in eight to ten days with residual pink or red color resolving over a few weeks.
Photofacial™
A Photofacial™, or Photorejuvenation, uses BBL (broad band light) to reduce wrinkles, sun damage, red spots,and pigmented acne scarring with minimal or no downtime. It is also one of the few skin revitalization procedures that is proven to treat rosacea, reducing redness and flushing. The treatment can also handle certain skin conditions such as age spots, pigmentation abnormality, enlarged pores, and spider veins with very short recovery time compared to many laser and chemical peel technologies. Areas that can be treated include the face, chest, neck, and hands.
A Photofacial™ session in our Caldwell, Idaho office lasts about 15 to 45 minutes depending upon the particular needs of the patient. The BBL source used during the procedure pulses at a variety of wavelengths, allowing the different layers of skin to be penetrated so that various abnormalities can be targeted. As the treatment progresses, collagen and blood vessels under the top layer of skin begin to tighten, producing smoother looking skin and a decrease in discoloration. Anesthesia is not needed. You may still experience slight swelling and light peeling for a few days following the procedure, but unlike many other facial cosmetic procedures, you can usually return to work the next day or even the same day.
Poikiloderma is the brown and red patchy or spotted discoloration of the neck and upper chest. It is caused by sun damage over the course of time. It is very responsive to BBL ™ intense pulsed light Photofacial™ treatments.
Rosacea, the red patches of the nose or cheeks is often associated with spider veins and telangiectasia, tiny lacey visible veins. It is a common skin condition treated very effectively with BBL™ Photofacial™.
Hair Removal by ClearScan® Laser

Hair reduction by Laser or Intense Pulsed Light is a safe, effective, and comfortable way to reduce unwanted facial and body hair for extended periods of time or permanently. Areas such as underarms, the bikini area, face, legs, and back can all be treated with much more effectiveness and comfort as compared to plucking or waxing. The procedure can remove unwelcome hair from virtually anywhere on the body. After laser hair removal treatment the burden of unwanted hair can be significantly reduced. For gentlemen, that pesky ingrown beard and the discoloration that goes with shaving can finally no longer be a concern. Although the best results are achieved after several treatments, immediate results can be seen even after the first treatment. Excess hair of the back, arms and neck can be removed or reduced. With our hair reduction laser, light energy is used to target the skin structures that make hair. As a result, fewer hair follicles grow back, and the ones that do, are finer and less visible. By using a specific wavelength, the hair follicle can be affected without damage to the surrounding skin. All hair colors and skin types can be treated. Laser Vein Therapy
Frequently, patients are bothered by small blood vessels that appear on the cheeks, nose, legs and hips. These are called Spider Veins or Spider Telangiectasia. While it is only physically harmful in rare cases, it can certainly damage a person's confidence and self esteem. If your spider veins are visible in places that are aesthetically unpleasing, they can be eliminated with our state-of-the-art Profile™ Laser System.
Dr. Russell T. Snow will first identify and assess the veins you wish to have treated. Sophisticated Sciton Profile™ computer technology allows Dr. Snow to accurately target only the veins you wish to eliminate.
Vascular Birthmarks such as port wine stains, strawberry angioma and hemangioma are usually responsive to laser therapy. They can be effectively resolved or improved even in infants. Many will diminish on their own but some will leave a residual mark or defect. Some are treated early to avoid potential defects and to avoid the concern of a prominent birthmark. Virtually any age can consider treatment. A series of laser treatments administered at intervals of several weeks are needed for optimal results. Topical anesthetic is usually sufficient for comfortable treatment.
Skin Tightening with BBL® Intense Pulsed Light
The Sciton BBL® Intense Pulsed Light technology offers an exciting new virtually painless method for tightening loose skin! Any skin area may be treated: face, legs, abdomen, neck and arms. A series of BBL ® light treatments are needed, each lasting about forty five minutes. No anesthetic is needed. Results develop gradually as lax collagen remodels over three to six months.
